Assistance League of Irvine Scholarship Endowment

Using proceeds from Assistance League of Irvine's fundraisers, a $10,000 endowment has been established, called Assistance League of Irvine Scholarship Endowment. From the interest earned on the principal balance, scholarships will be awarded each year to deserving students at Irvine Valley College.

"We want to encourage single mothers to earn a college degree, an achievement that will pay lifelong dividends," said Jeanette Burrows, Scholarship Committee Chairman. "Without a college degree, many of these individuals would never be considered by employers for higher-paying jobs."

"Establishing this endowment is very exciting and a great way to promote higher education in our local community," said Sharlene Baker, Philanthropy Vice President. "Anytime we can encourage someone to pursue a college degree, it's a good thing."

This year, the Irvine Valley College Foundation has awarded more than $165,000 in scholarships.
